Job Summary

Provide direct, non-licensed patient care and unit support on a medical-surgical floor under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Duties include ADLs, vital signs and intake/output, safe patient handling, specimen collection, and timely communication of patient condition changes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and document vital signs, intake & output, weights, pulse oximetry; promptly report changes to the RN.
  • Provide ADLs: bathing, oral care, grooming, toileting, safe transfers/ambulation, positioning, range of motion.
  • Make beds, answer call lights courteously, maintain a clean, safe environment, and prepare rooms for admissions.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and transports; ensure proper patient identification.
  • Collect and label specimens (urine, stool, sputum); document per policy.
  • Support meal tray delivery/pickup; document PO intake; recognize and report nutrition concerns.
  • Use mechanical lifts and follow safe-patient-handling procedures.

Job Qualifications

Required

  • Current CNA certification (Arkansas).
  • BLS (re-certification every 2 years).
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; professional, compassionate communication.

Preferred

  • Recent inpatient or long-term care CNA experience.
  • Familiarity with telemetry lead placement, Accu-Chek/blood glucose checks.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Job type: Full-time (PRN/part-time may be considered)
  • Shifts: 12-hour days or nights with rotating weekends/holidays; occasional float to like units
  • Pay: Competitive base pay with shift differentials (details during interview)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, toileting, and feeding • Measure and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, pulse oximetry, and blood glucose checks • Assist with patient mobility, transfers, range-of-motion exercises, and use of mechanical lifts and wheelchairs • Prepare patients for admission, transfer, discharge, and procedures • Observe and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff promptly • Collect specimens (urine, stool, sputum) and document intake and output accurately • Apply and monitor restraints per policy with proper documentation • Assist with post-mortem care as needed • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of patient rooms and nursing units • Transport patients safely to designated areas • Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, families, and healthcare team members • Respond appropriately during emergency situations and assist with CPR or Heimlich maneuver when needed JOB QUALIFICATIONS Required: • Completion of a Nurse Aide training program or on-the-job training with demonstrated competency • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English Preferred: • Previous experience in an acute care or hospital setting • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE • Pay range: Based on experience and internal equity • Schedule: Full-time and part-time opportunities; varied shifts available
