PRN PACU Registered Nurse (RN)

Prince William Surgery Center is seeking a PRN PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The PRN PACU RN will provide high-quality care to patients recovering from surgical procedures in our multispecialty surgery center. This position offers flexibility with no weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements.

Responsibilities:

Monitor patients post-operatively in the PACU, assessing vital signs, pain levels, and overall recovery.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a smooth transition from the operating room to the recovery area.
Educate patients and their families on post-operative care instructions and potential complications.
Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff in the PACU.
Adhere to infection control protocols and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
Active RN license in the state
BLS and ACLS Required, PALS if required by the center
2 years of experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred
Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment
Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet the needs of patients and the unit
Strong communication skills, verbal and written

Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility or health care organization policies and procedures to include the patient’s cardiovascular system, respiratory system and airway management needs, neurological system, hemodynamic stability, pain and comfort needs, and mental status. Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors. Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes.
