Highland Care Center is looking for an RN or LPN with an interest in respiratory care to join our clinical team. This position will focus on residents with COPD, asthma, chronic respiratory conditions, and other pulmonary needs, helping residents breathe easier, maintain function, and reduce avoidable hospitalizations.
This is a great opportunity for a nurse who enjoys hands-on treatments, respiratory assessment, prevention, and resident education.
What You'll Do
As our Respiratory Nurse, you will help coordinate and provide respiratory-focused nursing care, including:
Providing and monitoring ordered nebulizer and inhalation treatments
Assisting residents with proper use of incentive spirometers
Providing chest physiotherapy/percussion ("cupping") when ordered and appropriate
Monitoring residents with COPD, asthma, and other chronic respiratory conditions
Assessing respiratory status, including lung sounds, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, and changes from baseline
Monitoring and managing oxygen therapy according to physician orders
Reinforcing proper inhaler, nebulizer, and breathing techniques
Encouraging pulmonary hygiene, coughing, deep breathing, mobility, and other ordered interventions
Identifying early signs of respiratory decline and communicating changes promptly to providers
Working with nursing, therapy, providers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to help prevent respiratory-related hospitalizations
Providing education to residents, families, CNAs, and nursing staff regarding respiratory conditions and interventions
Ensuring respiratory treatments, assessments, and outcomes are properly documented
What We're Looking For
Current Utah RN or LPN license
Strong clinical assessment skills
Experience with COPD, asthma, oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, or respiratory care preferred
Skilled nursing, long-term care, pulmonary, home health, or hospital experience is a plus
Strong communication and resident-education skills
A nurse who enjoys developing a specialty and taking ownership of a clinical program
