Department: Private APP - Interventional Non-Operative Spine
Shift Details: Part-time, hourly, 2-3 weekday clinic shifts, 16-24 hours per week.
We are seeking an experienced, motivated Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join a busy interventional spine practice on a part-time basis, 2–3 days per week. This position is primarily outpatient and is ideal for a PA who enjoys direct patient care, longitudinal management of spine conditions, and working collaboratively within a specialized physician-led practice.
This APP will care for patients at our northwest Indianapolis, Westfield and Fishers clinics.

General Statement of Duties:
All clinical care provided by the Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) will be within the scope of the duties assigned by the supervising OrthoIndy Physician. The supervising Physician must be either physically present or immediately available for consultation when services are proved by the Advanced Practice Provider, including care provided using protocols, guidelines, and/or standing order. When the supervising Physician is unavailable, they may designate another Physician who has agreed to temporarily be responsible for the supervision.
Essential Duties:
- Evaluate and manage patients in an outpatient spine clinic, including new and established patients. Helps plan and implement care of doctor’s patients, including entering orders into the patient record that are verbal orders or part of standing orders or protocols approved by the supervising physician.
- Obtain focused histories and perform musculoskeletal and neurologic examinations. Assesses normal and abnormal findings obtained from history and physical examination as well as radiology and ancillary studies.
- Orders and reviews radiologic and laboratory tests and studies as necessary to complete history and physical examinations.
- Develops treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising physician, including: EMR documentation, prior authorization= requirements, ordering additional studies, communicates with supervising Physician and additional staff, and prescribes appropriate medications. Also, responds to patient portal and phone messages, medication questions and clinical concerns in a timely manner. Assists with medication management, refills, orders, referrals and coordination of care.
- Provide follow-up care for patients undergoing interventional spine
procedures and other nonsurgical treatments
- Helps manage and optimize the physician's clinic schedule/template, including appropriate patient placement, visit types, follow-up intervals and clinic workflow.
- Helps to counsel individuals and families about their health related issues. Communicates individualized teaching plans to patients based on their needs.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner required
- Current Indiana Physician Assistant license or Registered Nurse license
- National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants certification or American Association of Nurse Practitioners certification required
- Indiana Physician Assistant Committee certification or Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses of Indiana certification required
- BLS and ACLS required
- Prior spine, orthopedic, neurosurgical, pain management, PM&R, or musculoskeletal experience strongly preferred
- Experience with outpatient procedural or interventional spine care is a plus
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a high-volume specialty practice preferred
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication skills and organizational abilities are a plus
