General Statement of Duties : The Registered Nurse Inpatient is accountable for patient care consistent with established nursing practices and hospital policies and procedures. General Statement of Duties : All clinical care provided by the Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) will be within the scope of the duties assigned by the supervising OrthoIndy Physician. The supervising Physician must be either physically present or immediately available for consultation when services are proved by the Advanced Practice Provider, including care provided using protocols, guidelines, and/or standing order. When the supervising Physician is unavailable, they may designate another Physician who has agreed to temporarily be responsible for the supervision. Essential Duties: Helps plan and implement care of patients, including entering orders into the patient record that are verbal orders or part of standing orders or protocols approved by the supervising physician. Supports supervising physician with both outpatient clinics and surgery visits. Provides direct patient treatment, including but not limited to: performing as a First Surgical Assistant, assists with simple wound care and repair, joint injection and aspiration, administration of local anesthetic and digital blocks, joint and fracture reduction, and application of braces, splints, and other DME and soft goods. Orders radiologic and laboratory tests and studies as necessary to complete history and physical examinations. Assesses patients and assesses normal and abnormal findings obtained from history and physical examination as well as radiology and ancillary studies. Plans and implements care of patients, including; EMR documentation, ordering additional studies: communicates with supervising Physician and additional staff, and prescribing appropriate medications. Helps to counsel individuals and families about their health-related issues. Communicates individualized teaching plans to patients based on their needs. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Nursing Technician PPOP PACU works under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), preforming a variety of tasks delegated by the RN in order to care for patients. The Nursing Technician completes assigned tasks and reports information about patients to the RN. The Nursing Technician assists with obtaining vitals, and other taught skills as trained by OrthoIndy. Essential Duties: Obtains and reports vital signs and fluid intake and output. Discontinues IV lines and urinary catheters as directed by the Registered Nurse and documents removal. Observes and reports patient conditions and behaviors to the Registered Nurse. Assists in the cleaning of equipment, furniture, and surfaces using appropriate aseptic technique and returns equipment to appropriate areas as needed. Restocks linens and supplies on the unit. Orders linen, café items for patient care. Performs phlebotomy as directed by the Registered Nurse. Performs Urine Pregnancy Tests, and blood sugars for patients as directed by Registered Nurses. Provides skin care as directed by the Registered Nurse. Reinforces patients and family education as directed by the Registered Nurse. Performs EKGs and bladder scans when directed by the Registered Nurse. Transports patients to other units, upon dismissal, and as necessary. Performs Cast Cutting, Ted Hose measurement and application. Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required; specialty training beyond high school preferred Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license and 1-2 years of patient care experience required, OR Nursing student with one semester of completed clinical rotations required, OR a minimum of 1-2 years direct patient care experience within a hospital setting and ability to earn CNA certification within six months of start date.
