Director of Nursing (DON)

Schedule: Full-Time
Salary: $180,000–$200,000 annually

About the Role

The Hamptons Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead nursing operations and ensure the highest standards of quality, compliance, and resident care in our 280-bed skilled nursing facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily nursing operations across all units.

  • Lead and support ADONs, Unit Managers, and nursing staff.

  • Ensure appropriate staffing, scheduling, and coverage.

  • Monitor quality of care, clinical outcomes, falls, infections, wounds, and other key indicators.

  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation and required assessments.

  • Lead nursing education, competencies, and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain compliance with NYS DOH, CMS, and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in surveys, audits, investigations, and Plans of Correction.

  • Address resident and family clinical concerns and ensure timely follow-up.

  • Collaborate with the Administrator, Medical Director, Rehab, Social Services, and other departments.

  • Promote accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and resident-centered care.

Qualifications

  • Current New York State RN license required.

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; skilled nursing/long-term care experience preferred.

  • Previous DON, ADON, or nursing leadership experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of CMS and NYS nursing home regulations.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to lead a large nursing department in a fast-paced 280-bed facility.

  • Experience with SigmaCare preferred.

  • Basic computer skills required, including the ability to navigate electronic medical records and standard office applications
