JOB SUMMARY:       

Pain management nurses work closely with patients to monitor the severity and timing of pain in order to treat it effectively. Once a plan is determined, they then must have excellent communication with the patient and family and maintain treatment notes to watch for signs of abuse or other symptoms. This position also requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate between multiple medical facilities as a patient may be treated by various specialists simultaneously.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Education/Certification:  Graduate of an accredited RN program with a current RN licensure in the state of Idaho with a minimum of 1 year experience. Current BLS and ACLS certification and renewal as required.         

Experience:   Conscious sedation course certification required within 6 months of hire

Equipment/Technology:  Basic computer knowledge.

Education/Certification: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current valid RN license with the state of Idaho. Proof of completion of the following courses is required either at time of hire, or within the time frame designated: BLS at the time of hire or within 14 days of employment AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring Principles and Practice prior to completion of labor orientation or as soon as possible, or current RNC-EFM. Renew every 2 years or maintain EFM. NRP within 6 months of hire ACLS within 6 months of hire STABLE within 6 months of hire Complete all required Labor and Maternal Newborn orientation competencies prior to coming off orientation , and thereafter attend biannual skills lab to maintain competency. Complete QMP-OB, Baby Catching, & Scrub competencies within 6 months Experience : 3 years previous labor and/or postpartum experience (preferred) Equipment/Technology: Basic Computer Skills. Able to use I.V. pumps, radiant warmer, fetal monitoring devices, leg compression devices, PCA pump and respiratory equipment, etc. Language/Communication: Excellent communication skills and leadership capability. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate drug dosages . Mental Capabilities: Possess critical thinking and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize patient care for safety and best optimal outcome. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
