Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.

Position Details:

Patient Care Associate

Department:  Float Pool - Mercy STL - Ballas Campus 📍

Hours / Shift: Days (7 am -7pm) Nights (7pm-7am)

Full time : 3-12 hour shifts per week

Part time: 2-12 hour shifts per week

🩺 Responsibilities for Patient Care Associate (PCA):

Obtain vital signs and document in the electronic medical record system 📊
Assist with patient care needs, including:
- Meals
- Bathing
- Toileting
- Ambulation
- Mobility assistance
- Patient transport
Provide clerical support as needed

🔬 Responsibilities for Patient Care Technician (PCT):

Perform all PCA job duties
Phlebotomy / blood cultures
Enteral feeding
Wound care
IV / Foley removal
Tracheostomy care & suctioning

🎓 Training

Our Patient Care Associate Training Program is an accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program
Gain hands-on experience in a supportive healthcare environment

📘 No Experience? No Problem!

Mercy provides a required 175-hour training program that meets Department of Health and Senior Services requirements
Training is completed during new hire orientation and must be finished within 90 days

🫀 Certifications Requirements:

BLS required within 1 month of hire
PCA competencies completed within 3 months of hire

🎓 Education:

High school diploma or G.E.D.
CNA/CPTC or
Currently enrolled in a healthcare program
OR current Mercy co-worker

Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds regularly 🏋️
Prolonged standing and walking during shifts 🚶‍♂️
