In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Associate Nurse Manager (ANM) is responsible for managing and supervising activities in an assigned nursing area, on a specific shift.  Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

 

Job Functions:

  1. Provides operational leadership for the assigned patient care area during designated shifts to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality patient care and appropriate staffing.
  2. Coordinates daily clinical operations by managing patient flow, staffing assignments, patient acuity, and resource utilization to support quality outcomes and operational efficiency.
  3. Provides direct clinical support and serves as a clinical resource for nursing staff, assisting with complex patient care situations, emergencies, and staffing needs.
  4. Promotes safe, evidence-based nursing practice by monitoring compliance with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, infection prevention practices, and organizational policies.
  5. Monitors patient care quality through clinical rounding, chart audits, quality reviews, incident follow-up, and implementation of corrective actions to improve outcomes.
  6. Supports workforce development by participating in recruitment, onboarding, orientation, competency validation, coaching, performance feedback, and annual performance evaluations.
  7. Assists with workforce management by participating in scheduling, staffing adjustments, attendance management, and productivity oversight to meet patient care needs.
  8. Addresses patient, family, physician, and employee concerns promptly and professionally to promote service excellence and effective problem resolution.
  9. Provides supervisory oversight by exercising delegated supervisory authority, including recommendations regarding hiring, performance management, corrective action, and employee relations in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
  10. Functions in designated leadership roles, including Charge Nurse, Nursing Supervisor, Team Leader, or other operational leadership assignments as required.
  11. Facilitates communication and coordination among interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care, effective care transitions, and achievement of departmental objectives.
  12. Participates in organizational quality, safety, regulatory, and performance improvement initiatives, including leadership rounding, committee participation, and implementation of system priorities.
  13. Maintains clinical competence and leadership proficiency through required education, professional development, leadership training, and ongoing competency validation.
  14. Provides direct patient care as needed, including assessment, development and implementation of the nursing plan of care, patient and family education, documentation, and evaluation of patient outcomes in accordance with professional standards.
  15. Performs other leadership and clinical responsibilities necessary to support departmental and organizational operations.
  16. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Current licensure in the State of Ohio or if working in WV will need WV Licensure as a Registered Nurse required. 
  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience preferred. 
  • Current BLS required. 
  • Attend leadership classes/ Frontline 50.  
  • BSN preferred. 
  • ACLS within 1 year of employment required. 
  • Maintains compliance in RQI required.

 

Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:

  • Verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Manual dexterity, color vision and near visual acuity.  
  • Demonstrates leadership skills.

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care within the Nursing Scope of Practice in the State of Ohio guidelines. Functions as a vital member of the diagnostic imaging healthcare team who contributes to the success of MHS by demonstrating patient centricity, effective communication, professionalism, and teamwork. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care provided to selected patient populations and their families. Performs cardiac stress testing under the supervision of a physician. Demonstrates progression to recognize situational changes that require unplanned or unanticipated interventions, and responds to situations with confidence, timeliness and flexibility. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times. Job Functions: Works in conjunction with Nuclear Medicine Technologists in performing Cardiac Stress Tests. Completes documentation of care provided to patients within the department that includes but is not limited to collecting patient history and physical review to include current medication records and allergies and reviews laboratory data for abnormal or usual results prior to administration of any medication. Assists in building Nursing Policies for diagnostic procedures to maintain patient and staff safety. Administers medications; handles emergent patient care issues. Responsible for implementing the philosophy, objectives, standards of care, policies, and procedures of Cardiac Services under the supervision of a Cardiologist and Medical Director of Diagnostic Imaging. Direct assessments, evaluation and monitoring for all patients undergoing any cardiac stress testing in the Cardiac Diagnostic Stress Lab. Assuring informed consent as allowed by nursing licensure and hospital policy and obtaining all necessary patient signatures. Confers with the physician as needed based on the medical status of the patient. Works closely with the medical, nursing, and ancillary staff of the system to provide quality and safe care. Maintains compliance in annual Radiation training. Maintains strict confidentiality at all times. Maintains compliance in RQI. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary. Minimum Education/Experience Required: Current licensure in the State of Ohio as a Registered Nurse required. BLS and ACLS certification required. Minimum of 1 year critical care experience required. Basic and/or Advanced EKG class or evidence of stress test training course required upon hire or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire. If previous stress lab experience, Observation RN must provide evidence of performing at least 50 stress tests within the last 2 years.
