As a staff nurse you are instrumental in managing operations of your assigned unit. Your work will ensure our residents receive the high standard of care they have grown to expect at Colonial Manor of Elma by assisting with supervising the activities of all clinical staff on your assigned unit, providing guidance and education to clinical staff, assisting with instilling a positive and inclusive facility culture, ensuring established infection prevention practices are maintained and ensuring adequate staffing for our resident’s needs. Our residents will depend on your knowledge, skills, and attention to detail to ensure they receive an unparalleled standard of care.

As a minimum, an unencumbered State of Iowa (or compact state) Registered Nurse (R.N.) license; experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility setting is preferable.

Follows the CT Nurse Practice Act and follows McLean Nursing Philosophy of Excellence, Leadership, Integration, Learning and Discovery, while administering and directing ancillary personnel in the performance of nursing tasks. Takes responsibility for the delivery of care on the unit and engages in proper hand-off to the next shift. JOB FUNCTIONS: (This list may not include all job duties assigned.) 1. Arrives for duty on time and ready to assume responsibility for the unit when assigned. Organizes resident/patient care according to accepted routines and prioritizes activities, and manages work day so as to complete duties within eight hour shift. 2. Responsible and will be held accountable for ongoing assessments of the residents’ nursing care needs. Immediately reports changes in condition of residents with accurate assessments and interventions to supervision, APRN or physician. Transcribes orders from W10.
