A well-established Skilled Nursing Facility in Philadelphia, PA is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department. The ideal candidate will be a strong clinical leader who is committed to quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and positive clinical outcomes.
Position Responsibilities
Provide overall leadership and direction to the nursing department.
Supervise and support RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other nursing personnel.
Ensure the delivery of safe, compassionate, and person-centered resident care.
Maintain compliance with CMS, Pennsylvania Department of Health, and applicable federal and state regulations.
Monitor clinical outcomes, quality measures, and resident care practices.
Oversee infection prevention and control programs.
Ensure accurate and timely completion of assessments, care plans, documentation, and clinical records.
Lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
Review accidents, incidents, grievances, and significant clinical events and ensure appropriate follow-up.
Monitor nursing staffing levels and assist with scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage.
Provide ongoing education, training, and competency development for nursing staff.
Participate in surveys, regulatory visits, and the development and implementation of Plans of Correction when necessary.
Collaborate with physicians, residents, families, rehabilitation, social services, dietary, activities, and other interdisciplinary team members.
Promote strong communication and teamwork throughout the nursing department.
Establish clear expectations for staff performance, accountability, and professionalism.
Participate in leadership meetings and assist with facility-wide quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Current and unrestricted Pennsylvania RN license.
Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, preferably in a skilled nursing/long-term care setting.
Previous nursing management or leadership experience required.
Strong knowledge of CMS and Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations.
Excellent clinical assessment, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, and develop nursing staff.
Knowledge of infection prevention, quality assurance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Experience with electronic medical records.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of resident care and quality of life.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, or Nurse Manager in a SNF.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
Experience preparing for and successfully managing federal and state surveys.
Experience with QAPI, quality measures, staffing initiatives, and performance improvement programs.
