
Staff Nurse (RN) - Float Pool
Job Purpose: The Staff Nurse (RN) is a professional care provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients. The Staff Nurse (RN) will provide care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and coordination with other health care team members, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs. Work is performed in accordance with established hospital standards, nursing department/unit structure, process and outcome standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements and consistent with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the hospital and nursing department.
Work is performed in a variety of patient care units. Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other disciplines in maintaining standards for professional nursing and hospital practice in the clinical setting, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.
Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Possess current New York State licensee for a Registered Nurse. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) to be obtained within the first six (6) months of transfer or hire. ACLS, Telemetry Certification Critical Care module assigned and completed, Neonatal Resuscitation (NPR) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within the first year of employment. Recommended: TNCC & ENPC.
Preferred: One or more years' experience in acute care nursing. American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
