Responsibilities:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and comprehensive preparation of patients scheduled for surgical procedures. Working collaboratively with the Nurse Practitioner (NP), anesthesia providers, surgical offices, and other members of the perioperative team, the LPN assists in coordinating and facilitating the preoperative evaluation and clearance process. Utilizing the nursing process, the LPN collects and reviews patient information, identifies potential concerns, supports patient education, and helps ensure that all required testing and documentation are completed prior to surgery. This role is performed in accordance with Piedmont Healthcare's Mission and Vision Statements, organizational policies and procedures, and professional nursing standards, while demonstrating accountability, clinical competence, continuous professional growth, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered care.
This is primarily a non-patient-facing role with a strong administrative and clinical coordination focus. Responsibilities center on chart review, tracking preoperative testing and clearances, obtaining missing documentation, communicating with provider offices, and supporting the NP in identifying and resolving potential barriers to surgical clearance.
The hours include Monday-Friday 8:00a-4:30p with no weekends or holidays.
Qualifications:
Education
- Graduate of an LPN program Required
Work Experience
- New graduates of an accredited nursing school are eligible
- Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting
Licenses and Certifications
- LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - State Licensure Required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
- Demonstrated clinical competency in the specialty area applying for Preferred
- LPNs new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 180 Days
