Required Caregiving Experience Applicants must have direct professional experience caring for clients who are bedbound or require extensive hands-on assistance. Responsibilities may include: Assisting with bed mobility Helping the client move between the bed and an approved chair or wheelchair Using a gait belt when directed Assisting with safe positioning in a wheelchair Using a mechanical or Hoyer lift when required Following all one-person or two-person assistance requirements Checking equipment before use Following all transfer and fall prevention instructions Requesting assistance when a transfer cannot be completed safely Caregivers must never attempt an unsafe transfer or use a Hoyer lift, mechanical lift, gait belt or other equipment without the required knowledge, training and authorization.
