Lovelace Medical Center (LMC), in the heart of Albuquerque, is an acute care hospital providing comprehensive care, including around-the-clock emergency care, surgical services, non-invasive robotic spine surgery, stroke care, radiology, and oncology services. LMC recently acquired New Mexico’s first Intuitive da Vinci 5 ® surgical system, demonstrating its commitment to the most advanced technology available in minimally invasive surgery. LMC has 263 licensed beds.

Responsibilities

Serves as ‘lead’ in their functional area and coordinates special project assignments.
Assists surgeons with surgical procedures within the operating room under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, including conveying sterile instruments and supplies used in basic to complex surgical procedures.
Adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or hospital -based program.
Sterilization techniques.
Operating Room instruments and supplies.
Medical terminology.
Six (6) months' experience in an acute care hospital-based operating room, or ambulatory surgery center.
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

Certified.
1 year of OR experience.
CORT or CST.

Surgical Technologist Full Time at USPI New Mexico Surgery Center - Orthopaedics The Surgical Technologist is r esponsible for ensuring proper care and use of surgical instruments, a nticipates the needs of the surgical team, e stablishes and maintains sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room. Performs specified functions to meet the requirements of each approved procedure Assembles supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures according to physicians’ preference cards Inspects equipment for proper working condition Follows principles of aseptic technique and prescribed operating/procedure room procedures Adheres to aseptic technique when opening sterile packages and preparing for the procedure Arranges instruments according to given procedure Confirms that instruments work properly Maintains availability of instruments and supplies to avoid delays Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and takes action according to policy Correctly uses, cares for, cleans, and sterilizes instruments, supplies, and equipment as directed Handles equipment and instruments correctly to provide appropriate availability and safety Assists in maintaining adequate supplies in the operating room for immediate access during procedure Assists in storing and stocking supplies as directed Maintains and updates instrument cards and surgeons’ preference cards Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician Documents patient-care records and other forms according to facility policies and procedures Accurately advises others responsible for care of the patient about the patient’s status Assists with room turnover/room cleaning throughout the day for optimal patient flow Qualifications High School Diploma / GED; Completion of a Scrub Technician Certification Program. One to two years operating room experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties or an equivalent combination of education and experience. BLS Certification.
