Position Summary

The Certified Surgical Technologist and the Surgical Technologist assist in the

nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. He/she functions as a member

of the sterile team in donning gown and gloves, creating and maintaining a sterile

field and issuing instruments to surgeons. His/her function is to maintain

supplies.

Qualifications

Education:Current Surgical Technologist Certification or eligible
Training and Experience:
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate through the American Heart Association (AHA) required within ninety (90) days of hire.
Successful completion of Hospital and Nursing orientation within three (3) months of hire.
Completion of L&D Surgical Technologist competencies within three (3) months of hire or transfer. To include but not limited to:
C-Sections
Post partum tubal ligation
Deliveries
High risk deliveries
Set up and assistance with procedure

Unusual Physical Demands And Working Conditions

Ability to perform:
Heavy lifting
Sustained standing and walking
May encounter exposure to infectious diseases.
Ability to work under stress.
Varied work hours and shifts

JOB TITLE : Certified Surgical Tech SUPERVISION RECEIVED : Physician and/or Registered Nurse GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES : Surgical Technician needed for fast paced ASC. Must be certified and have minimum 2 years experience. Monday through Friday. CPR required. Surgical technologists, also called scrubs and surgical or operating room technicians, assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. Surgical technologists are members of operating room teams, which most commonly include surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: A graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program CST certification, or based on state regulations, they may be grandfathered in, without being certified Prefer 1-2 years clinical experience in an operating room setting.
