Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 6 months of their start date, or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU. The RN directs the implementation of the plan of care through performance and/or coordination of the activities of other members of the health care team. Clinical Pathways, Departmental Policies and Procedures are used as the basis to prescribe nursing intervention. The RN is responsible for the evaluation of nursing care given to all patients. The RN revises the plan of care according to the needs of the patient and appropriately implements changes as necessary. QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing, and must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Ohio Board of Nursing. Current certification in ACLS, BLS and EKG interpretation. Can demonstrate knowledge regarding the nursing process and its application by current work experience in health care or recent graduate from a professional school of nursing (within last 12 months). Endoscopy experience preferred.
