Registered Nurse School Setting - New Castle, DE

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to students, addressing injuries, illnesses, and chronic health conditions.
  • Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and school policy.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate health records while ensuring student confidentiality.
  • Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with complex or ongoing needs.
  • Participate in health screenings, immunization verification, and preventive education programs.
  • Serve as a healthcare resource within the educational environment, supporting wellness initiatives and crisis interventions.
  • Collaborate regularly with educators, counselors, and families to promote a safe, inclusive school environment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities Directs the daily activities of the licensed practical/vocational nurse and certified nursing assistants in accordance with current federal, state and local regulations and guidelines and established facility policies and procedures. Follows the nursing model to promote holistic care for the residents. Ensures that policies and procedures are complied with by nursing personnel assigned. Participates in the admission, discharge and transfers of residents as required. Transcribes physician orders to medical record and carries out orders as written. Prepares and administers medications as per physicians’ orders and observes for adverse effects as indicated. Informs appropriate departments of concerns or complaints and files grievances as necessary. Participates in end of life care as required. Ensures that there is adequate stock of medications, supplies, equipment and notifies appropriate personnel of needs. Coordination of the facility’s Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process in accordance with state and federal regulations. Accurate completion of all MDS assessments and any supporting assessments or clinical documentation. Implementation and ongoing evaluation of each resident’s comprehensive plan of care.
