How you’ll make an impact in this role
- Assess patients' vascular access needs and provide evidence-based recommendations for the most appropriate vascular access device to support safe, effective patient care.
- Perform advanced vascular access procedures, including ultrasound-guided peripheral IV insertion, midline, and PICC placement, while promoting vein preservation and patient safety.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, bedside nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized vascular access plans and improve patient outcomes.
- Educate patients, families, and healthcare professionals on vascular access devices, infusion therapy, evidence-based practices, and complication prevention.
- Utilize advanced clinical assessment, critical thinking, and independent judgment to prioritize consults, troubleshoot complex vascular access challenges, and support quality initiatives, including infection prevention and vascular access best practices.
What minimum requirements you’ll need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire required.
Additional Preferences
- Minimum of 3 yr experience is preferred
- BSN Preferred
- Previous experience working as a VAST RN or in Emergency, Critical Care, Infusion Therapy, Oncology, Vascular Access, PICC lines/midlines or other high-acuity procedural environments
- Previous experience mentoring | preceptor
- Ultra sound background experience preferred
