JOB SUMMARY: The Nursing Assistant must have the skill and knowledge to provide population specific care. He/She must have the ability to assist with the collection of data for objective assessment, and to identify the needs and requirements of the patient and report to the charge nurse/team leader. They will act within the scope of practice for Nursing. The Nursing Assistant reports directly charge nurse/team leader. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School graduate or equivalent. b.) Completion of certified nurse assistant course. Licensure/Certification: a.) BLS certification required within 6 months of employment. b.) MO CNA, EMT, or have completed Fundamentals Class in Nursing school. Work Experience: a.) Successful completion of hospital orientation. RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES: 1. Provide appropriate care to patients, including but not limited to, bathing, vital signs, and glucose monitoring, walking, and answering the call light as needed. 2. Report abnormal vital signs and glucose reading to nurse who is overseeing patient care. 3. Report a change in-patient to nurse taking care of patient. 4. Documentation in the EMR that are accurate and detailed if needed. 5. Provide clean environment care (straightening up rooms, emptying drains). 6. Provide protection of medical record and maintain HIPPA compliance. 7. Fill out incent reports as needed for actual events and near misses. 8. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED STAFF COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates support for organizational and departmental mission. Supports and demonstrates knowledge of the Strategic Plan and the Hospital Key Initiatives. Fosters and promotes teamwork within department and the organization as a whole. Works to resolves conflicts constructively and in a timely manner. Ability to communicate effectively and simply with every customer and co-worker. Ability to display a positive, courteous and friendly attitude toward all contacts. Ability to build good relationships with others based upon a sustained effort of mutual support toward common goals. Ability to exercise good judgment, reasoning and concentration to detail and to take personal accountability for all actions in carrying out job duties. Is customer focused and committed to Quality and Process Improvement with a strong desire to provide service excellence. Possesses and displays a strong knowledge and understanding of the standards of practice for their position including, if and when applicable, commensurate computer skills; population specific and general competencies; organizational skills, time and project management. WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Direct patient contact, possible exposure to infections, communicable diseases and bloodborne pathogens. 2. Occasionally exposed to radiation and electromechanical hazards. 3. Works indoors in well-lighted and ventilated environment. 4. Handles emergency or crisis situations. 5. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours. 6. Subjected to frequent interruptions. 7. Comply with ADA guidelines.
