Allen Correctional Center is seeking a motivated and energetic individual to serve as a Registered Nurse Director of Nursing A. This position is a key supervisory role responsible for overseeing medical staff, developing healthcare protocols, ensures facility adheres to local, state, and federal guidelines, oversees quality improvement initiatives, monitors the delivery of chronic, acute, and emergency medical services, and balances clinical quality with strict institutional security rules to protect both staff and inmates. This position is also responsible for managing department budget, medical supplies, and equipment inventories.

Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:
Six years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A bachelor's degree in nursing plus five years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A master's degree in nursing or public health plus five years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A doctorate in nursing or public health plus four years of experience as a licensed registered nurse.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.Job Duties:
- Ensures all nursing practices meet local, state, federal and accreditation standards.
- Hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and mentoring professional nursing and support staff.
- Serve as a liaison between the medical unit, correctional staff, administration, and outside public health agencies.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Employee will work for the Medical Director.

- Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
- Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
- An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
This position also offers premium pay at a rate of $5.00 per hour for each hour worked, in addition to regular pay.
