Make a meaningful impact for students with complex medical needs as a school nurse providing one-on-one care during daily bus transport. This contract opportunity offers a unique chance to work in a supportive educational environment near Quincy, MA, for the 2026–2027 school year. You’ll work approximately 7.5 hours each week, focusing on morning runs—ensuring safety, administering interventions, and monitoring health for students with conditions such as seizure disorders, g-tube dependencies, and chronic conditions.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for the medical well-being of diverse students, including monitoring oxygen saturation, g-tube management, PRN seizure medication administration, and being alert to allergy-related emergencies with tools like EpiPens. You’ll partner closely with families, staff, and transportation providers to assure the safest possible journey to school for these remarkable students.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current, active Massachusetts RN or LPN license
- At least one year of experience in school nursing or pediatric nursing
- Comfortable with g-tubes, oral suctioning, seizure management (including Valtoco administration), and monitoring students with complex medical needs
- Skilled in emergency response, particularly for allergies (EpiPen use) and respiratory needs (O2 monitoring)
- Reliable early morning availability for daily bus rides
- Compassionate communication and a partnership mentality with students and families
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct medical support during AM transport routes
- Monitor for and respond to signs of distress, seizures, or medical emergencies
- Document care and communicate with the broader care team as needed
- Safely manage medical equipment and interventions while in transit
