iJob Purpose:  The Operating Room Staff Nurse (RN) is a professional care provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated timeframe in order to provide care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and coordination with other health care team members, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.

Unit Specific:  The Operating Room Staff  Nurse (RN) provides specialized intensive nursing care to diverse patient populations of varying acuity, ranging from infant, pediatric, adolescent, and adult to geriatric during the intraoperative period in the Operating Room (OR)  and Johnstown Surgery Center (ASC), taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.   Work is performed in accordance with State regulations for Registered Nurses, established hospital standards, nursing unit structure, established regulatory and accreditation requirements, and the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the hospital and Operating Room/Recovery Room Department. 

Education:  Graduation from an accredited nursing program.  

Preferred:  Bachelor of Science Nursing degree. 

Licensure/Certification/Registration:  Possess current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or to be obtained within the first six (6) months of hire or transfer and AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within twelve (120 months of hire/transfer

Experience: New Graduates welcomed, prior acute care experienced.

Preferred:  One (1) year post graduation Medical/Surgical experience or Critical Care experience.  PALS/PEARS certification, prior Operating Room Experience.
