PACU Charge Nurse

$42.85 - $63.77 / hour

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Charge RN, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team.

Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives.

To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

  • Mentors others in areas such as competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, National Patient Safety Goals, and participation in inservice education.
  • Provides direct patient care as appropriate to meet the needs of the patients and department.
  • Evaluates care given by staff. Coaches to improve care. Ensures standard of care is maintained. Prepares work schedules, assigns personnel. Exhibits a general understanding of the process fro dealing with ethical dilemmas and understands and coordinates the process for obtaining an Ethics Consult.
  • Coordinates patient flow on the unit to facilitate the provision of timely and effective care.
  • Demonstrates appropriate prioritization and critical thinking skills in critical situations.
  • Utilizes the nursing process including accurately assesses patient's physical, emotional, spiritual, and learning needs.
Job Requirements

Required

  • Associates Of Science in Nursing
  • Two (2) years RN experience within applicable clinical specialty and/or Charge Nurse Experience 
  • Registered Nurse (RN:AZ)
  • American Heart Association -Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)


Preferred

  • Bachelors Of Science in Nursing
  • CVICU experience for Critical Care Charge Nurse
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
