Float Critical Registered Nurse (RN) – RWJBarnabas Health

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

  • The Float Critical Care nurse will assist the staff member in assessing and stabilizing the patient s condition, as well as organizing information to be communicated to the patients physician
  • Deliver direct patient care across assigned critical care and intermediate care units based on daily staffing needs
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, patients and families
  • Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
  • Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
  • Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
  • Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
  • Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety

  • To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification upon hire and ACLS must be completed within 120 days of hire and CCRN preferred. An Associate Science in Nursing degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum 2 years’ experience in Critical Care Nursing ICU or ED is highly preferred. Must be comfortable with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. Full-Time Day shift 7a-7:30p 36 hours per week. Monday – Friday, every other weekend and holiday rotation you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
