About the Role
Our Clinical Research team consists of nurses, coordinators, and research assistants who support more than 80 clinical trials across inpatient and outpatient settings. Research studies span a variety of specialties, including cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, pulmonology, neurology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, transplant, and infectious disease.
The Clinical Research Nurse plays a key role in coordinating clinical trials while ensuring participant safety and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include:
- Screening, recruiting, and enrolling patients into clinical studies
- Conducting study visits and patient assessments
- Coordinating study activities and regulatory requirements
- Collaborating with physicians, sponsors, and interdisciplinary teams
- Educating patients and families about research participation
- Collecting study data and performing research-related clinical procedures, including phlebotomy and IV placement
Successful candidates will possess strong clinical judgment, organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for advancing patient care through research.
Qualifications
- Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Requires 5-7 years of relevant experience.
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
- Requires knowledge of FDA regulations to govern the conduct of research trials.
- Requires ability to perform physical assessment of patients.
- Requires phlebotomy skills to draw blood; start IVs.
- Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office and applications.
- Critical Care experience preferred but not required.
