Travel RN - Labor & Delivery

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor and Delivery RN with an active IN or compact license and 2 years of L&D experience for a 4x12 day shift assignment. Job details: - Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a short-term acute care hospital - Day shift schedule, 4x12 hour shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM - Patient population includes labor, induction, scheduled and unscheduled C-sections, C-section with salpingectomy, SROM, PPROM, hypertension, preeclampsia, antenatal patients, and triage patients - Facility performs 100-200 births per month - Follows AWHONN staffing guidelines with typical ratios of 1:1 for active labor, 1:2 for non-active labor, and 1:3 for triage or antepartum patients - Uses CADD epidural pumps, Alaris IV pumps, Phillips wired and wireless monitoring, Periwatch, Hillrom labor beds, Draeger radiant warmers, vein light, and v-scan - Cerner charting system used, experience required - MCH float required, may float within hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital Requirements: - Active RN license (IN or Compact) required and must be in hand prior to start - Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and FHM - Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required - Cerner charting experience required - Community hospital experience preferred - Charge experience preferred - Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, fetal monitoring, and high-risk delivery assistance - Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response - Knowledge of medication administration including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and antihypertensives - Experience with antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care - RN's university must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation - 2 supervisor references required - SSN and DOB required for consideration Additional information: - Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care including high-risk antepartum and newborn care - Assist with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and high-risk delivery procedures - Perform fetal monitoring, sterile vaginal exams, and neonatal resuscitation as needed - Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays - Local candidates not accepted for this position - First-time travelers are welcome to apply - Travel experience not required - Any current or former IU Health perm/PRN employee must be separated for 12 months before applying as a traveler - Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must take a designated break to reset eligibility (90 days for out-of-state residents, 180 days for in-state residents) - RTO requests of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time requires facility approval

Perform select clinical duties. Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
