Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech: Responsibilities Assist with the nursing care of patients preoperatively, intraoperatively, and postoperatively by performing routine and delegated duties according to the standards of the department and hospital practice and policies. Responsible for the preparation and disbursement of surgical supplies, equipment, and instrumentation – pre, intra, and post-operatively. Demonstrate knowledge of principles of asepsis. Demonstrate knowledge of the standards of AORN guidelines. Assume responsibility for clinical competence and professional development.
