Job Responsibilities

Providing excellent nursing care to post-acute residents in areas nearby
Supporting residents with basic activities of daily living (ADLs) like eating, personal hygiene, and grooming
Protecting resident health and safety by supporting a clean, sanitary, and hazard-free environment
Assisting with the transportation and movement of residents around the facility, as needed
Documenting and reporting resident vital signs and updating the nursing team on the physical and mental conditions of residents
Being accountable to follow and adhere to care plans for residents and all applicable policies, rules, and regulations
Engaging with residents in ways that build relationships based on a sense of security and trust
Communicating between, and among, staff, residents, and family members in ways that support transparency and the comfort of residents

Qualifications and Skills

Current Rhode Island Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
Understanding of general nursing care procedures and terminology
Ability to communicate with medical professionals as well as patients/residents and their family members
High level of attention to detail
Lifting requirement of at least 50 lbs

Performing under the direction of the RN/LPN and as a member of the unit-based patient care team, the Certified Nursing Assistant/Unit Coordinator (CNA/UC) performs duties of direct and indirect patient care. The direct patient care tasks include but are not limited to activities of daily living, vital signs, glucometry, EKG’s, weights and Intake/Output data collection. Indirect patient care activities include, but are not limited to, transport, restocking and/or obtaining patient care supplies. In addition, the CNA /UC is responsible for responding in a timely manner to the needs of patients and family members and taking a proactive role in the efficient operation of the unit. They function within policies, procedures and guidelines of Sturdy Memorial Hospital in accordance with Joint Commission, CDC and OSHA standards.
