Medical Assistant

Position Summary The Medical Assistant assists the Primary Care Providers in providing quality care as delegated . This individual is also cross trained to assist in clerical tasks, waived testing and phlebotomy. Qualifications Education: High School graduate or equivalent required upon hire or transfer to the department.Certificate of completion from an accredited medical assistant program required upon hire or transfer to the department. Training and Experience: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or transferred to department. Minimum of six (6)months’ experience working as an MA; one (1) year of experience in an ambulatory setting preferred. Bilingual abilities are desirable but not mandatory. EKG and Cardiac Rhythms knowledge Mental Health First Aid-Suicide Awareness Training Demonstrate appropriate leadership skills: a. Professionalism b. Under general supervision in an outpatient clinical setting, provides initial patient triage, registration, and administrative services. Assists with direct patient care, and performs specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated by established clinical protocol. Education High School graduate or equivalent. Must have certificate of completion from an accredited medical assistant program. Training And Experience Minimum of six months experience working as a MA preferred; one year of experience in an ambulatory setting preferred. Bilingual abilities desirable but, not mandatory. Current BLS Certification required through the American Heart Association. Unusual Physical Demands And Working Conditions Full range of body motion including lifting and handling patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires correct vision and hearing to normal ranges. Occasionally lifts and carries up to 25 pounds. Requires working under stressful conditions and working irregular hours. Travel to out of town satellite clinics required as needed.

May participate in supporting the clinic’s social media presence, including gathering content, sharing clinic-approved updates, and assisting with community engagement efforts as directed High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Medical Assistant preferred. Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or similar role in a clinical setting. Knowledge of medical terminology and practices relevant to dermatology. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with patients and staff effectively. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Basic proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and general office software.
