Job Summary and Qualifications The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance. Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention. Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively. Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding. Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management. Employment Status: Full time Shift: Evening (United States of America) Facility: 1906 Belleview Ave SE - Roanoke Requisition Number: R155457 LPN INPATIENT - Emergency Department - Roanoke (Open) How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare: This position is located at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH) in Roanoke, VA. This position is working full time, evening/night and every other weekend. The LPN (inpatient) practices practical nursing within the parameters set forth in Carilion Clinics Plans for the Provision of Patient Care and functions under the direction of a registered nurse or physician. Partners with the RN in collecting data, planning, implementing and evaluating patient/resident care. The LPN (inpatient) Participates in the nursing process for patients of all ages served. Communicates frequently with team members, ancillary departments and physicians. Contributes to the development of the patient/resident database and interdisciplinary plan of care. Identifies patient/resident/family/caregiver educational needs, incorporates education into plan of care and documents. Applies knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients/residents. Implements prescribed therapeutic treatment plans and procedures. Administers prescribed medication to patients/residents. Advocates for patients, protector of patient's rights, and provider of psychological/social/cultural support. May assign tasks to as needed. What We Require: Education: Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing. Experience: None Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Licensed to practice practical nursing in the state of Virginia. In Psychiatry and Behavioral Health: de-escalation training must be successfully completed within four months of hire and then maintained going forward.
