Overview About the Role The primary role of the Staff Nurse (Critical Care Transport) is to deliver and oversee critical care during the transport of patients within the hospital system to the most appropriate medical facility. This includes providing both Basic and Advanced Life Support (BLS, ALS) in pre-hospital and hospital settings. Working under the guidance of a licensed Medical Control Physician (MCP) and the supervision of the Chief Flight Nurse and EMS Coordinator, the Staff Nurse is responsible for treating patients of all ages and backgrounds who are experiencing serious illness or injury. The nurse uses age- and condition-appropriate equipment and techniques to assess, stabilize, lift, move, and safely transport patients. In addition to clinical care, the Staff Nurse ensures accurate documentation, supports efficient EMS operations, and represents University Hospital and EMS with professionalism and integrity. Prior experience as a Specialty Care Transport Unit (SCTU) Transport Nurse is preferred. At least two (2) years of EMS driving experience with a clean driving record is preferred. Must successfully pass a medical evaluation and respirator fit test. Must be able to wear an N95 respirator mask in compliance with PEOSHA standards. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are preferred.
