SUMMARY In conjunction with the DON, plans, coordinates and manages the clinical services for a specified nursing unit. Responsible for the coordination and of nursing care and services provided to Residents in the various units and is responsible for facilitating the interdisciplinary team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Assesses and evaluates the systems which facilitate the delivery of quality resident care. • Facilitates the resolution of issues and concerns associated with resident / patient care including family issues. • Implements and evaluates all nursing procedures and systems relative to unit programming. • Makes nursing diagnoses that serve as the basis for the strategy of care. • Performs nursing assessments regarding the health status of the resident / patient. • Develops a plan of care and implements nursing care based on assessment. • Provides health education to patients and their families. • Participates in quality assurance activities. • Adheres to scope of practice limitations based on qualifications. • Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations. • Will perform general nursing duties in cases of emergency or staffing shortages. • May perform functions as directed by the Director of Nursing to enhance clinical operations. ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the state of California • Current CPR certification • Valid State registrations and certifications as required based on the programming of the unit. • One to three years (1-3) years of supervisory experience preferred. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises nursing staff and others for whom they are administratively or professionally responsible. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT May be required to respond to critical issues on a 24/7 basis. RN Supervisor (Registered Nurse) GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: GENERAL • Assure that residents have a clean, safe, orderly and comfortable environment. • Initiate resident Plans of Care on admission. • Assist in implementing recommendations from consultants and the Quality Assurance team as directed by the Director of Nursing Services. • Assist in developing, reviewing, revising an updating resident Plans of Care for individual residents. • Ensure that notification is given to the resident’s attending/alternate physician, as well as the resident’s legal guardian/representative, when the resident becomes critically ill, injured, etc., or has a significant change in condition as outlined within our established policies. • Review complaints and grievances form families and notify the Director of Nursing Services as necessary. • Evaluate emergencies and assist in implementing emergency measures. • Assure that the unit area is maintained in a clean and safe manner for resident comfort and convenience, by ensuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained to perform nursing care. • Assist in notification of physician of any resident incidents/unusual occurrences. Ensure that the Accident/Incident Report forms are filled out and completed on all such occurrences and such information charted in the resident’s medical record as outlined in our established policies and procedures. • Assist the Charge Nurse on investigation of alleged abuse or unusual occurrence as outlined within our established policies and procedures. • Start and monitor intravenous medication as ordered. • Assist the Charge Nurse and other nursing personnel in performing nursing procedures as necessary. • Assist the Charge Nurse in admitting, transferring and discharging residents. • Assist in correcting findings and deficiencies from the Department of Health Services, Consultants, and the Quality Assurance Team.
