Job Description We are searching for a Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU - We are looking for someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position you’ll provide quality nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate care in a manner that incorporates family-centered principles and cost-effective care. What does the Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) do? Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique. Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable. Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices. Maintains accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided. Applies knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience: Education/Training Level I Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred. RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must maintain continuing education requirements. Summary This Research Nurse position is within Office of Clinical Research (OCR), which provides centralized support to Investigators who conduct studies at Baylor College of Medicine and/or affiliated hospitals. Responsible for patient care in a clinical research setting, including obtaining vital signs, performing ECGs, starting IV lines, collecting and processing specimens, administering medications, and monitoring patients. Duties also include maintaining accurate records, ensuring protocol compliance, and performing additional procedures as required per protocol. The candidate selected for this position may occasionally requires to work after-hours, weekends, and overnight. In addition, we are looking candidate who can travel between Baylor College of Medicine and affiliated hospitals within Houston Texas Medical Center. The ideal candidate will have the ability to travel between study site locations, the ability to work flexible hours, the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and detail-oriented care. Serves as a liaison and distributes research information to faculty, research staff, principle investigator, and others as required. Maintains clean and safe work environment. Stocks and orders study supplies. Provides training and guidance to research nurses and other research personnel and serves as a resource to staff. Ability to travel between study site locations. Ability to work flexible hours. Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision. Performs other job related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Two years of relevant experience as a licensed Registered Nurse (RN). Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Preferred Qualifications Oncology experience. Job Purpose To practice in an advanced role to provide developmentally and age-appropriate Palliative Care services to patients and families both inpatient and in the ambulatory setting at Texas Children's.
