Role Summary As a Clinical Nurse II in Wound Care at Howard University Hospital — the nation’s only teaching hospital on the campus of a historically Black university and a designated DC Level 1 Trauma Center — you will deliver skilled, patient-centered care to patients at risk of or living with complex wound care needs. Reporting to the Nurse Manager, you will assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate care at the bedside, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to achieve safe, effective outcomes. Key responsibilities include: Rounding daily on new and established patients Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and perioperative evaluations Performing histories and physicals (H&Ps), interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing care plans Prescribing and managing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic pain treatments Managing epidural and peripheral nerve catheters Documenting clinical findings in progress notes Educating patients and families on pain management strategies Providing pain management education and serving as a clinical resource for healthcare team members across the institution Position will include mandatory 6-8 weeks of initial, comprehensive training at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
