ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES The Clinical Nurse, Coordinated Student Health Services shall carry out the performance responsibilities listed below: Provide child specific staff training, maintain staff training data base, and monitor performance to ensure the school staff is familiar with and can respond appropriately to the needs of students with chronic health conditions. Maintain systems to ensure that paraprofessionals and school staff providing child-specific health procedures are properly trained and monitored. Assist with District-wide ongoing training on health issues. Review and update teaching materials used for school staff training on chronic health conditions. Participate in the assessment and evaluation of students with chronic health conditions and make recommendations to schools regarding health needs of students. Participate in the development of the student's Individualized Education Plan or 504 Plan. Collaborate with Exceptional Student Education staff at the school level to ensure the delivery of appropriate health related services, in accordance with the student's Individualized Education Plan or 504 Plan. Collaborate with students' healthcare providers in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating students' health needs in school. Review documentation of care provided to students with health conditions and maintain data collection of medication administered and special health procedures performed during school hours, as required. Support the implementation of student support systems which promote family participation. Provide orientation for newly hired school board nurses providing services for students with chronic health conditions. Solicit and respond to input from staff, schools, parents and community in reference to school health, to ensure service delivery meets or exceeds expectations. Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida. Participate in the training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to the job responsibilities. Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities. Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE An earned associate degree from an accredited institution. A minimum of five (5) years, within the last nine (9) years, of experience and/or training in a field related to the title of the position. Degree major in nursing or health related field, including but not limited to public health, health care leadership, nutrition, social work, or psychology. Current licensure as a registered nurse by the Florida State Board of Nursing. Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification , updated according to the American Heart or American Red Cross Association Standards. Computer skills as required for the position. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE An earned bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Responsibilities : Responsible for assisting patients with and per plan of care, the following: Baths, Oral hygiene, Dressing and undressing, Toileting activities, feeding, etc. Taking and recording oral, rectal and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure when ordered (with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency) Safe transfer and ambulation techniques Exercise according to the plan of care Performing range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered (with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency) Patient’s laundry Meeting safety needs of patients and using equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, etc.) Observation and teaching of home safety practices Recognition of an emergency situation and knowledge of emergency management procedures Must follow patients’ plan of care and complete all tasks assigned Communicates in a constant, clear, and effective way with the client, family/caregiver and office Observes and documents patient condition and reports any changes, to the assigned nurse supervisor Requirements : Meets all training requirements in accordance with state and federal laws when applicable Ability to read, follow written instructions and document care given Possess and maintains current CPR certification in accordance with state regulation PPD or chest x-ray if applicable Successful completion of Maxim screening examinations Participation and completion of Maxim’s competency program Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements The Lakes benefits : part-time position.
