Location: Kent Campus Hospital Status:Full Time 80 Hours Shift: Variable SALARY RANGE: 37.07 - 57.47HOURLY General Summary: The Professional Cardiovascular Registered Nurse (RN)provides professional nursing care within the Cardiovascular and Electrophysiology Laboratory. The RN practices requiring specialized knowledge, judgement and skills are performed consistent with hospital policy, procedure, philosophy and licensure. The RN performs multiple roles within the Cardiovascular, Electrophysiology, and Interventional Neurology laboratories including assisting physician(s) with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations, diagnostic and interventional peripheral procedures, endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), electrophysiology procedures (ablations, implantable cardiac defibrillator insertions/revisions, pacemaker insertions/revisions, EP studies, loop recorder insertions, structural heart procedures: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) and interventional neurology procedures: carotid stenting, stroke thrombectomy, cerebrovascular aneurysm embolization, and transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR). Responsibilities include conducting various cardiac tests to monitor patients' heart and blood vessel conditions using diverse cardiology equipment, preparing procedure rooms, prepping patients for procedures, obtaining, and recording patient information, assisting physicians in procedure by circulating procedures, X-ray fluoroscopy proficiency, performing blood work analyses, and operating intra-cardiac ultrasound. Directs and practices safety guidelines for themselves, staff, and patients. Independently functions during diagnostic and interventions procedures. Maintains a high level of expertise in specialty procedures within their assigned lab. Within the Cath Lab, this may include structural heart procedures and hemodynamics; within Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, RN’s perform device and electrophysiology procedures (EP), and operate 3D mapping systems. Within the Interventional Neurology Lab, RN’s perform carotid stenting, stroke thrombectomy, aneurysm coiling, and other neuro-interventional procedures. Will be required to work varied hours, shift lengths, and respond to an on-call pager, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends. Responsibilities: Prepares the patient care and/or procedure area prior to the arrival of the first patient or beginning of first procedure to provide for safe, efficient delivery of care. Receives and reviews charts for scheduled patients as soon as they are available for the next day. Assures that proper documentation, lab results, and consent is present in the chart prior to the procedure. Communicates abnormal lab results or other concerns to the physician/Nurse Practitioner. Prepares the patient for the procedure in a timely and efficient manner. Provides nursing care, including complete systems assessment, and monitoring for the immediate pre and post procedural cardiovascular and electrophysiology patient. Abnormal findings to be communicated immediately to the physician/NP. Provides appropriate handoff to receiving RN. Participates in the “Full Stop” and/or “Time Out” process, prior to the beginning of each procedure, along with the physician and other members of the team as per Bayhealth and unit policies. Administers procedural sedation per Bayhealth and unit policies. Demonstrates the ability to accurately document handoffs, pre and post procedure care in the electronic documentation system accurately and in real time. Demonstrates the ability to accurately document all procedures performed in the Cardiovascular and EP Lab in the MacLab/ CardioLab system. Demonstrates the ability to independently circulate all procedures performed in the Cardiovascular and EP Lab. Accurately records/documents procedure log in MacLab/CardioLab documentation system in real time. Maintains an ongoing safe, therapeutic environment for all patients and families in accordance with hospital standards including sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy. Actively participates in the preceptorship of new staff members. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in education, workshops, in-services, and current literature. Maintains required certifications and completes yearly unit and hospital mandatories prior to performance evaluation. Seeks specialty certification/advanced degree. Patients on 6A enjoy private rooms, is very well equipped, clean and organized. 6A is a 24 bed unit where the acuity ranges from Med Surg to Intermediate Care and receives a variety of patients including Neuro and Neuro like conditions. They have great teamwork, participates in the Nurse Residency Program and Shared Governance. The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy. Responsibilities: Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting. Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs. Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record. Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans. Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration. Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable. Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
