Overview Carries out patient care responsibilities with emphasis on decision-making related to the steps in the nursing process to include assessment, diagnosis, and identification of expected outcomes, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides competent, safe and compassionate care based on established BronxCare Health System Patient Care and Nursing Standards. As a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, formulates the initial plan of care with the provider (physician or nurse practitioner) and collaborates with them to implement a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care to achieve expected outcomes; utilizes principles of assignment and delegation consistent with the NY State Nurse Practice Act. Responsibilities Provides professional nursing care to patients within unit. Diagnose and treat response to actual or potential health problems by means of nursing techniques and methods such as case finding, health teaching, health counseling and the provision of care supportive to and restorative of health and well-being. Maintain safe levels of care while adhering to a medical regimen. Collaborates with the physician and other health care providers to assure that a goal oriented care plan is consistent with medical regimen and hospital procedures. Performs other related duties as instructed. Qualifications BSN with three (3) years’ experience preferred. Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse. BLS Required. Bilingual Preferred: English/Spanish. 
Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Operating Room Technician I position is to be under the direct supervision of the professional nurse. The OR Technician I performs various duties to assist with surgical procedures and related operating room activities. The OR Technician I delivers care as reflected in the Association of Surgical Technologists’ Recommended Standards of Practice in a manner that is cost effective without compromising quality of care. The OR Technician I possesses knowledge of the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tolls and technologist to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. The OR Technician I demonstrates competency to scrub for minor/major surgical and endoscopic surgical procedures. An Operating Room Technician I is a certified technician. The OR Technician I participates in departmental quality assessment and improvement activities, meets hospital continuing education and certification requirements, participates in student teaching activities, upholds Patient Care Services philosophy and objectives, demonstrates knowledge of Association of Surgical Technologists’ Recommended Standards of Practice, AORN’s Age Specific Competency Statements and demonstrates professional growth and development. Measurement of performance behavior is “as observed by Nurse Manager and/or Educational Specialist according to OR policy and procedure” unlessotherwise indicated. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technician Program. Candidates must be eligible to sit for the LCC-ST certifying examination. One (1) year of related experience preferred. Certification as an Operating Room Technician (LCC-ST) plus one (1) year of related experience preferred. Constant walking, bending, stooping and standing for long periods of time. Pushing and pulling of heavy objects such as gurneys, patient beds and OR beds. Must maintain a neat, clean, professional appearance. Must have understanding, patience, and tact in dealing with physicians and fellow workers. Must pay attention to detail. Must have excellent hand-eye coordination. Must be selfmotivated and work in an efficient and effective manner. Must work in air-conditioned environment with temperature of 65-73 degrees and humidity of 45-55%. When assigned to pediatric cases, temperature may be up to 85-90 degrees F. Must wear hospital provided scrub attire while on duty. Potential for cuts, bruises, muscle strains and exposure to contagious disease via and body fluids. Potential for exposure to anesthesia waste gases, ethylene oxide, harsh disinfectants, sterilizing agents, high steam pressure agents and radiation. Willingness to work with employees at various levels of skill, knowledge and abilities.

Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY The Assistant Director of Nursing ensures that standards of professional practice are developed and maintained on a 24-hour basis, 7 days a week to achieve excellence and continuity in resident care on the unit in a manner that is reflective the ESCC Core Values. The Assistant Dir. of Nursing will ensure that nursing care goals are established for each resident and provides guidance for the clinical care team to work toward established goals, ensuring that appropriate nursing care is provided and required documentation is completed. The Assistant Dir. of Nursing will function as an advocate for resident and family, intervene and provide leadership and guidance in crises, and in assuring the resident achieves their highest level of functioning within a least restrictive environment. Responsible for the leadership, direction, supervision, evaluation, hiring and termination of all nursing staff assigned to the neighborhood, the Assistant Dir. of Nursing serves as a support person for members of the staff and acts as a role model to instill in the staff that patient safety, wellbeing and family collaboration are the hallmarks of clinical nursing excellence. The Assistant Director of Nursing will be responsible for working an on-site schedule of a 5 days/week that may include weekends. In collaboration with neighborhood staff, ensure adequate and appropriate par levels of supplies and linen. Perform administrative requirements such as completing forms, reports, etc., and submitting to the Director of Nursing as required. Establish a least restrictive environment where restraints are only used after the care plan team agrees that all other alternatives have been exhausted. Responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance for completion of MDS and Care Plans for each resident according to the pre-determined schedule. Assures that all documentation is completed by established deadlines. Ensures coverage for completion of MDS/Care Plans when assigned staff are unavailable. Coordinate and oversee the Care Plan meetings. Responsible for ensuring completion and follow up of occurrence reports, medication error forms, skin care forms and continually work on reducing occurrences and medication errors through root cause analysis, education and quality improvement processes. Rounds on Neighborhoods for the purpose of obtaining clinical information on residents, to support and educate staff, to assist with family issues and endorses complete information to next shift. Promotes 24 x7 accurate, objective clinical and administrative reports. Responsible for review of EMR status board and other variance reports and follow up with staff on outstanding items. Establish a schedule for and coordinate neighborhood meetings. Assure that information is disseminated to all appropriate parties timely. Review complaints and grievances and make oral/written reports to the Director of Nursing and Vice President of Operations. Coordinate investigations as necessary including gathering statements, interviews, review of cameras, photos, disciplinary proceedings and remedial education as appropriate. Coordinate with Talent Management as necessary Collaborates with clinical educators to ensure all required educational opportunities for staff are attended and that mandatory clinical skills competency requirements are completed. Maintains accurate and clear records regarding changes in shift assignment in accordance with rules of the Center and the 1199 bargaining unit contract. Monitor the performance of ANM, ANCC and charge nurses to ensure that they meet facility and regulatory standards in regards to care provided, leadership growth, professionalism, interpersonal skills, team building. Establish a protocol for the interviewing process and orienting new members to the neighborhoods. Facilitate self-staffing in collaboration with neighborhood staff and Staffing Office. Manage budget for neighborhood. Participate in research, evidence-based practice and demonstration of new products/equipment for the Children’s Center. Represent the Children’s Center at and participate in meetings as required. Participate in the establishment and/or review of center wide policies, procedures and long-term care regulatory requirements and assure all team members are knowledgeable in these areas. Stay current with regard to changes in policies and regulatory requirements and update staff at monthly meetings or as necessary. Support a system for recognition and rewards for service excellence in the neighborhood. Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator. Qualifications Education Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in nursing or related field. Master of Science degree (required) New York State Nursing License and Registration Certificate BCLS/ PALS Experience Minimum five (5) years RN experience with at least three years in a supervisory role. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Operating Room Technician II position is to be under the direct supervision of the professional nurse. The OR Technician II performs various duties to assist with surgical procedures and related operating room activities. The OR Technician II delivers care as reflected in the Association of Surgical Technologists’ Recommended Standards of Practice in a manner that is cost-effective without compromising quality of care. The OR Technician II possesses knowledge of the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. The OR Technician II demonstrates competency to scrub for minor/major surgical and endoscopic surgical procedures. An Operating Room technician II is a non-certified technician. The OR Technician II participates in departmental quality assessment and improvement activities, meets hospital continuing education and certification requirements, participates in student teaching activities, upholds Patient Care Services philosophy and objectives, demonstrates knowledge of Association of Surgical Technologists’ Recommended Standards of Practice, AORN’s Age Specific Competency Statements and demonstrates professional growth and development. Measurement of performance behavior is “as observed by Nurse Manager and/or Educational Specialist according to OR policy and procedure” unless otherwise indicated. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technician Program. Certified as a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or equivalent required. AHA CPR required. One (1) year of related experience preferred. Must maintain a neat, clean, professional appearance. Must have understanding, patience, and tact in dealing with physicians and fellow workers. Must pay attention to detail. Must have excellent hand-eye coordination. Must be self-motivated and work in an efficient and effective manner. Must work in air-conditioned environment with temperature of 65-73 degrees and humidity of 45-55%. When assigned to pediatric cases, temperature may be up to 85-90 degrees F. Must wear hospital provided scrub attire while on duty. Potential for cuts, bruises, muscle strains and exposure to contagious disease via and body fluids. Potential for exposure to anesthesia waste gases, ethylene oxide, harsh disinfectants, sterilizing agents, high steam pressure agents and radiation. Willingness to work with employees at various levels of skill, knowledge, and abilities.

These responsibilities also include patient education and discharge planning. The Registered Professional Nurse is a member of a designated care team and collaborates, coordinates and guides team members in planning patient care in a safe environment and achieving the highest quality and safety in the delivery of patient care.The competent practice of the Professional Registered Nurse is in accordance with American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice, Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Organization Standards Sentinel Event Alert Recommendation, Patient/Family Centered Principles, Department of Health Standards and University Hospital Policies and Procedures. Minimum of two (2) years Staff Nurse experience, within which at least one (1) year of OB/GYN/Post-Partum experience required within the past (3) years. BLS required. Must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in basic life support (BLS). Ability to employ problem solving techniques and critical thinking. Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to lift and move patients with/without reasonable accommodations. Ability to organize care/activities of multiple patients. Successful completion of a Progressive Care Course or Progressive Care Certification. Phlebotomy Certification or IV Certification is required. Proficiency in the English language is required.
