What does the Advanced Practice Provider do? (including but not limited to) Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis. This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to): Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients. Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated. Performs procedures after appropriate training. Assesses patient/family needs and provides education. Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs. Incorporates the developing knowledge of evidence-based research into clinical practice. Developing knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements. Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion. May provide case management for patients and their families, given limited knowledge of community resources. May promote/provide staff education Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after-hour calls. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience: Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program. Level I is entry-level and typically requires a minimum of zero (0) - three (3) years of experience. Level II requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience. Level Senior requires six (6) years of experience. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. Current basic life support (BLS) certification required. OR Physician Assistant Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification. Level I is entry-level and typically requires a minimum of zero (0) - three (3) years of experience. Level II requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience. Level Senior requires six (6) years of experience. Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state. Current basic life support (BLS) certification required. OR Clinical Nurse Specialist Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program. Consistently follows hospital policy regarding verification of patient identification prior to obtaining specimen and ensures specimens are appropriately labeled with patient identifiers, date and time of collection and initials. Ensures lab charges and patient charges are completed and accurate on a daily basis either in the computer or on paper as indicated in the designated areas. Bonus Potential Summary/Objective The Registered Nurse is responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients of any age group admitted to the area employed. The Registered Nurse provides direction to Licensed Vocational Nurses and non-licensed nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. The Registered Nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the mission and objectives of the Hospital. Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel that take into consideration patient safety and that are commensurate with the educational preparation, experience, knowledge, and physical and emotional ability of the person to whom the assignments are made in compliance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Implement measures to promote a safe environment for patients and others and knows the rationale for and the effects of medications and treatments and shall correctly administer the same. Maintains required documentation of patient care and unit activities in accordance with standards. Clarify any order or treatment regimen that the nurse has reason to believe is inaccurate, non-efficacious or contraindicated by consulting with the appropriate licensed practitioner and notifying the ordering practitioner when the nurse makes the decision not to administer the medication or treatment. Institute appropriate nursing interventions that might be required to stabilize a patient's condition and/or prevent complications.
