Job Overview Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Oncology-5A Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN . As a Registered Nurse in our Oncology unit, you would help adult patients and oncologic malignancies. Our services include hematologic malignancy, gynecological oncology, solid organ tumor oncology, colorectal, plastic surgery, and gender affirmation surgery. Nurses are responsible for providing chemotherapy, radiation, and end-of-life care. We deliver complex medication and infusion therapies, blood administration and care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic surgeries, procedures, and interventions on the unit. You would use the nursing process to provide for the physical, emotional, and educational needs of adult patients undergoing hematological, oncological, and surgical therapy. You would also manage complex medication and infusion therapies as well as safely administer medications and infusions in accordance with relevant policies and guided by knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, normal dosages, and method of delivery. Job Overview Ebenezer Integrated Care & Rehab (EICR) serves seniors with long-term, transitional, and dementia care needs in the heart of downtown St. Paul. As part of Fairview's Community Health and Wellness Hub, EICR is committed to delivering innovative, collaborative care. The Fairview Community Health and Wellness Hub opened in 2022 to deliver a variety of services to the community—from primary and mental health care to enrichment options for seniors, food access programs, and community gathering spaces. The Hub brings Fairview services together with local organizations—including Minnesota Community Care and Sanneh Foundation—to make it easier for people to access what they need to be well. We are seeking a Charge Nurse (RN) for our newest Skilled Nursing Community (Transitional Care units, Long Term Care) in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota! This role leads, supervises and directs and/or delegates all nursing functions on the assigned unit or floor to assure care is provided per plan of care. This position requires demonstrating sound management skills through effective problem-solving and decision-making. They are responsible to supervise in compliance with State and Federal regulations as well as Ebenezer Standards and policies. The team includes a Director of Nursing, Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses, Nursing Assistants, Social Worker, and more. This nurse leadership schedule include; 48 hours every two weeks ; Part Time Overnight shift ; 10:00pm-6:30am ; Shift differential available Transitional Care Unit Block Schedule: Week 1: Monday and Thursday Week 2: Monday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Every other weekend and holiday rotation Responsibilities Leads, delegates, and directs all nursing functions on assigned unit or floor to assure that care is provided per individualized plan of care. Serves as a positive role model to staff. Assures that reporting process is accurate and provides continuity of care from shift to shift. Observes and evaluates cares given by nursing staff through daily rounds. Delegates tasks/duties to RNs, LPNs, and NARs within their scope of practice. Monitors mealtimes to assure that: a) appropriate staff coverage and assistance is given, and b) proper diets are served in a timely manner. Assures that medications and treatments are administered per physician orders and facility policies. Serves as contact with families and outside health care providers. Observes staff performance and addresses concerns promptly and appropriately (staff training). Elevates concerns about staff performance, duty refusals to the Nurse Manager or/and Director of Nursing (performance issues). Conducts surveys and audits upon request. Serves as lead in emergency situations as required. Answers call lights. Answers the telephone. Assists with appointments, transportation, and patient transfer to the ED. Active in admission and discharge process. Ensures documentation is completed. Contacts the physician/family on a timely basis when indicated and documents the outcome. Contacts the physician/family of changes in condition when indicated and documents the outcome. Attends mandatory, annual, and other educational opportunities as offered on and off site. Assures that plan of care, medical records and other documentation are current, complete and accurate. Assesses resident needs upon admission and during the length of stay. Reviews documentation and orders for completion and accuracy. Identifies needs of residents according to physical, mental, and psycho-social aspects of care maintaining the highest level of functioning. Develops, implements and evaluates plan of care, and revises as appropriate. Assures that changes in condition or acute episodes are reflected in the medical record/plan of care. Investigates and follows up on incident reports and medication errors reports. Provides teaching/training to residents, families and staff regarding meds, treatment and rehab procedures. Actively participates in audits to assure quality care and practices. Follows facility policy and procedure regarding transcription and follow through of physician orders. Reports concerns, opportunities, and successes to management along with appropriate recommendations. Utilizes the reporting processes effectively and consistently. Provides feedback to nursing management regarding employee performance. Informs Nurse Manager, Director of Nursing or Nurse on-call of staff performance issues and has staff speak directly to them in order to be sent home pending the investigation. Serves as facility supervisor and assumes administrative responsibilities as assigned Serves as emergency contact/lead for the facility for all departments Monitors delivery of care throughout the facility including staffing Conducts tours for families and potential residents as requested Displays ingenuity in anticipating and meeting the challenges of unexpected situations. Serves as lead in emergency situations as situation warrants. Required Qualifications Associate of Science Registered Nurse 1 year experience RN Licensure/Registered with the MN Board of Nursing Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross; accepted certifications as follows -AHA: BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program or BLS Provider - BLS Instructor.
