RN PRN 20P - Pediatric ICU - Shift Varies

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is an 11 bed ICU that cares for critically ill children at Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children. The PICU is staffed by RNs, NPs, and Pediatric Intensivist who work closely together with a supportive multidisciplinary care team to provide acute care to children from 0-18 years of age. We offer a progressive educational program to train staff in pediatric critical care to include monthly inservices from our physicians. The PICU RN provides care for children and adolescents from 0-18 years of age, with life-threatening or high- acuity conditions that require constant monitoring. AICU is an 8-bed Medical/Surgical Adult ICU at the Huntsville Hospital for Women/Children campus. Orientation consists of working with an experienced staff and length of orientation is typically 6-12 weeks depending on experience. AICU is the only adult critical care unit at the Women/Children campus. The AICU offers a challenging workflow for RN’s. AICU receives a variety of patients that includes primarily critical Medical patients, but also Antepartum, Postpartum, GYN Oncology, GYN, ENT, and any adult patient at WC that requires intensive monitoring. The RN’s in AICU are trained to care for a variety of critical situations including hemorrhage, critical OB, CRRT, ventilators, and titrating drips. We have 4-beds wired for fetal monitoring that is monitored by an L&D RN on our campus for our critical Antepartum patient. AICU RN’s are responsible for all Rapid Responses and Code Blue situations for the adult patient population at WC.
