Perform delegated tasks after instruction by RN or PT. Bathe clients, assist with showers and partial baths as appropriate. Assist clients with proper exercises and assist PT in the rehabilitation for client when applicable. Help client maintain personal hygiene and assist with all aspects of activities of daily living. Answer client questions about self-care techniques and give instructions that will assist family, client, and family/support in providing care. Assist client in getting ready for doctor appointments. Lift, turn, and weigh clients as appropriate. Take and record vital signs as assigned, including blood pressure, temperature, respiration. Qualifications Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) strongly preferred. Must be registered and listed in good standing on the Nurse Aide Registry in the state of employment. Minimum of 1 year of experience in a home health or hospice setting. Minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in direct client care in an institutional setting (hospital or nursing facility). Must have the ability to recognize the needs of people, to maintain good relationships with people, and have the capacity to make meaningful observations and communicate them to the supervisor. Responsibilities Mesilla Valley Hospital (UHS facility) is a free-standing psychiatric hospital in Las Cruces, New Mexico that provides mental health and drug & alcohol addiction services for adolescents, adults, and seniors. Mesilla Valley Hospital has been in operation since 1987, serving those in need of treatment for a variety of psychiatric and substance abuse issues. Mesilla Valley Hospital is a 120-bed facility, providing access to quality behavioral healthcare and substance abuse treatment to residents of New Mexico, West Texas and Arizona. Mesilla Valley Hosptial is currently seeking a Nurse Practioner to assist with patient evaluation. POSITION SUMMARY Under the supervision of the attending Physician, the ideal candidate: performs psychiatric assessments for individuals under his/her care; adheres to documentation requirements as per hospital P/Ps and medical bylaws; provides individual therapy, family therapy and/or medication management as per hospital bylaws for patients under his/her care; participates and assumes leadership role during the interdisciplinary master treatment team meetings and directs the individualized patient treatment plan.; appropriately requests consultation when indicated; provides psychiatric consultations when requested. Qualifications EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION MSN, or DNP is required. Licensed as a Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the state of New Mexico. Prior experience in hospital based psychiatric practice and outpatient psychiatric practice preferred. Must maintain active status with medical staff. SKILLS Strong clinical assessment skills and knowledge of crisis intervention procedures. Knowledge of family and group therapy techniques.
