Responsibilities : Implements administrative goals and policies and interprets objectives of Nursing Services to the nurses on the units. Assist in ensuring appropriate staffing is met during shift. Rounds the nursing units daily to ascertain the condition and needs of the residents and informs Director of Nursing of all changes and related problems. Observes nursing care of the residents to ensure that orders are carried out as directed and treatment is administered in accordance with physician's instructions. Assists with orientating newly employed nurses and clinical placement of nursing students. Arranges hospital transfer of residents. May render nursing care, administer medication and perform treatments. Assists in planning, developing, organizing and implementing departmental goals and objectives. Ensure appropriate staffing levels are met for each unit by coordinating with Staffing Coordinator. Exhibits creativity and initiative in pursuing organizational and departmental growth and development. Description Under the supervision of a licensed physician responsible for development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of clinical programs and services for designated patient populations. Provides evaluation and direct patient care that promotes achievement/maintenance of optimal health. Responsibilities Provides general patient care under the direction of or in consultation with the Chief of the Division. Evaluates patient’s physical, emotional, and psychosocial status, and makes recommendations for treatment or referral as appropriate. Independently provides nursing services to patient/family/significant other, including education, counseling, medication management, and general health care instructions. Performs the triage process (telephone and in person) to assist patient in obtaining timely and appropriate care. Consults with others on the health care team as necessary. Demonstrates professional involvement by attending and participating in seminars, workshops and courses as presenter or author; keeping abreast of current literature and trends in practice; considers ethical issues in professional nursing practice. Attend and help the Clinical Diabetes Educators in support group sessions for Diabetes patients. Work with Clinical Research Coordinator on research protocols, entering data and follows of patients participating in clinical studies. Qualifications -Job requires completion of NYS-approved program for training of registered professional nurses and an accredited program in Nurse Practitioner in order to gain knowledge of anatomy, physiology and clinical patient care. Master’s Degree and certification in specialty area are preferred. -Two years progressive job related experience specific to area of responsibility. -Registration required with New York State as Registered Professional Nurse and Nurse Practitioner. -Certification by ANCC in specialty area. -High level of analytical ability required to effectively and expeditiously diagnose, monitor and deliver care to patients under the direction of physician. -Interpersonal skills sufficient in order to effectively interact with patients to gain trust and cooperation.
