RN Supervisor (Registered Nurse) is a licensed professional nurse directly under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services. The RN Supervisor (Registered Nurse) is to assist the planning, organizing, developing and directing of nursing service to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times. RN Supervisor (Registered Nurse) QUALIFICATIONS • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. • Current nursing licensure in the state in which practicing. • At least one year of experience in supervision. • Strong qualities of leadership, communication and organizational skills. • Ability to communicate effectively in English through both speech and writing. • Possess mental, emotional and physical health. RN Supervisor (Registered Nurse) GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: GENERAL • Assure that residents have a clean, safe, orderly and comfortable environment. • Initiate resident Plans of Care on admission. • Assist in implementing recommendations from consultants and the Quality Assurance team as directed by the Director of Nursing Services. • Assist in developing, reviewing, revising an updating resident Plans of Care for individual residents. • Ensure that notification is given to the resident’s attending/alternate physician, as well as the resident’s legal guardian/representative, when the resident becomes critically ill, injured, etc., or has a significant change in condition as outlined within our established policies. • Review complaints and grievances form families and notify the Director of Nursing Services as necessary. • Evaluate emergencies and assist in implementing emergency measures. • Assure that the unit area is maintained in a clean and safe manner for resident comfort and convenience, by ensuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained to perform nursing care. • Assist in notification of physician of any resident incidents/unusual occurrences. Ensure that the Accident/Incident Report forms are filled out and completed on all such occurrences and such information charted in the resident’s medical record as outlined in our established policies and procedures. • Assist the Charge Nurse on investigation of alleged abuse or unusual occurrence as outlined within our established policies and procedures. • Start and monitor intravenous medication as ordered. • Assist the Charge Nurse and other nursing personnel in performing nursing procedures as necessary. • Assist the Charge Nurse in admitting, transferring and discharging residents. • Assist in correcting findings and deficiencies from the Department of Health Services, Consultants, and the Quality Assurance Team. SUPERVISION • Make resident rounds to ensure appropriate care is being rendered, identifying and making corrections as necessary. • Meet with nursing personnel to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and/or the improvement of resident care. • Assist in making rounds with the attending physician as necessary. • Assist the Charge Nurse in revision and distribution of assignments in case of nursing shortage. • Assist in the supervision and direction of nursing personnel. • Participate in disciplinary action and evaluation of nursing personnel. CONSUMER SERVICE • Presents professional image to consumers through dress, behavior and speech. • Adheres to Company standards for resolving consumer concerns. • Ensures that all resident rights are protected. 
REQUIREMENTS: 1. Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing 2. Possesses a valid and current RN/LVN license 3. 1-2 years experience in long term care preferred 4. Periodically reviews residents’ records and reports. 4. Reviews physician orders, transfers and admission information for completeness. 5. Serves as a role model for nursing staff. 6. Monitors for noncompliance trends and makes recommendations. 9. Conducts the interview process and hires licensed nurses with the advice and consent of the Director of Nursing Services. 10. Assist in training all newly hired licensed nurses and provides ongoing training to all licensed nurses including conducting inservices. 11. Conducts verbal and written counseling with the licensed staff and completes the termination process of staff with the advice and consent of the Director of Nursing Services. 12. Evaluates licensed nurses for efficiency and productivity and recommends wage increases to the Director of Nursing Services. 13. Investigates employee complaints and makes recommendations to the Director of Nursing Services. 14. Makes recommendations on the various merchandise, materials and supplies needed for the functioning of the Nursing Department. 15. Monitors for employee safety and makes recommendations accordingly. 16. Represents the facility at functions such as health fairs, colleges, ect. 17. Responsible for assessing, planning, organizing, documenting, and evaluating patient care in conjunction with another Critical Care Transport Care provider. The Critical Care Transport Nurse acts as a professional representative of Bon Secours Mercy Health to the community, as an educator to professional groups, to emergency medical services and promotes Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center and Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center as regional referral centers. Assists in the provision of care to patients of all age groups (neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric). The Critical Care Transport Nurse will be hired in on a ground Mobile Intensive Care Unit base with a progression towards rotor wing flight cross training if interested and openings are available. EDUCATION: Required Minimum Education: 2-year Associates Degree Specialty/Major: Nursing Preferred Education: 4-year bachelor’s degree Specialty/Nursing LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS (must be non-expired/active unless otherwise stated ): Required: Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Ohio CAMTS approved advanced certification (CFRN, or CTRN) required or obtained within 18 months of hire. Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required . Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required . TNCC and ITLS required or obtained within 6 months of hire.
