Promotes patient safety by adhering to National Patient Safety Goals and maintaining a clean, safe environment for patients and staff. Participates in audits, chart reviews, and compliance checks to ensure adherence to standards of practice and regulatory requirements. Demonstrates responsible decision-making in planning, delegating, and providing care based on patient needs and organizational policies. Documents patient care and education thoroughly and promptly in the medical record. Engages in professional development to maintain clinical competency and understanding of current nursing standards and regulations. The RN Coordinator Practitioner Excellence will be responsible for coordinating and managing all Medical Staff Peer Review meetings. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – Other duties may be assigned. · Identify cases meeting the criteria for clinical case review through pulling reports from various data systems and provide a preliminary analysis (RN level) of findings. · Collect data as specified in the Professional Practice Evaluation (PPE) Policy for aggregation, analysis, and presentation including an annual summary to be presented to the Medical Board by Medical Staff Leadership. · Collect data, as requested by hospital committees as defined in the PPE-Policy including but not limited to Physician Excellence Committee, Hospitalist Quality and Process Improvement Committee or others for ongoing trends or outlier status and to identify opportunities for improvement. Observes, records and reports patients’ conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments to providers. · Assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. · Collecting patient history including current medications, allergies, symptoms, etc. · Provide patient care as directed by provider; this may include screenings, treatments in accordance with nursing standards. · Assisting providers with various procedures as needed. · Documenting patient charts and relaying information & instructions to patient/family. Document all interventions, phone calls, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed, hospital data, etc. in medical record. · Answering patient phone calls & messages and acting as a communication liaison between the patient and provider. · Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include filing or sending medical records to a patient or referral provider; appointment scheduling. · Collection and handling of lab specimens following established standards and practices. Adhere to infection control safety guidelines, maintaining equipment, instruments, and stock supplies. · Utilizes electronic referrals process to complete requested physician referrals to NCHMD specialists and ancillary services. · Performs diagnostic x-ray with minimal exposure to self or patients. Correctly identifies patient prior to exam, introduce self and receive signature for ABN if required. Keep radiology area stocked. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS · Minimum of High School or GED required. · Completion of Medical Assistant or practical nursing training program with documented clinical practicum hours; OR Medical Assistant certification; OR a minimum of one-year experience in medical office setting as a Medical Assistant or like role. · Current Florida Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BMO) License. · Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. · Verified ability to take accurate patient vital signs. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively articulate and explain required information to patients. · Knowledge of CPT and ICD10 codes. · Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows · Knowledge of basic and specialty specific medical terminology. · Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions while maintaining a professional demeanor and control.
