Ensures proper reimbursement from insurance companies by performing pre-authorization for prescription drugs, procedures, and patient tests. Demonstrates the ability to build trusting collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team to support patient care needs. Actively participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings as assigned. Answer telephone calls from patients, pharmacies, physicians, vendors, etc. by close of business. Summary GENERAL SUMMARY The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled individual that works in a healthcare setting to support the non-clinical and clinical functions of the service area. Functions within the Medical Assistant scope of practice and under the direction and continuous supervision of a licensed healthcare provider (MD, NP, RN, LPN) during performance of uncomplicated clinical services and tasks.
