RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1 Verifies daily staffing and redistribution, as necessary; 2 Collaborates with all charge nurses daily, to exchange information regarding resident care, resident condition and all matters affecting resident well-being (i.e. admissions, discharges, transfers, out of or within the building), makes recommendations regarding nursing process, and communicates concerns to supervisors of other departments; 3 Makes rounds, morning and night, as time allows, to assess residents condition, giving special attention to critically ill residents; 4 Ensures that the individual nursing care plan is followed for each resident; 5 Performs medication passes and/or direct resident care as needed; 6 Participates in resident care committee meetings; 7 Reinforces the training and orientation of nursing personnel and provides positive reinforcement; 8 Answers any/all emergencies throughout the shift (i.e., change of resident condition or pronouncement of death); 9 Assists in assuring a safe and sanitary environment for residents, employees, and visitors; 10 Assures that the building is secure during the evening and night hours by checking doors and alarms according to nursing facility protocols; 11 Reviews incident and investigative reports for accuracy and completeness; 12 Monitors meal service on the units and in the dining areas to identify issues requiring intervention and to assure resident meal satisfaction and nutritional adequacy; 13 Assists in development and implementation of nursing facility Quality Improvement Program; 14 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights; 15 Performs other duties as requested. SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/ VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 1 The Nursing Supervisor must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and there must be current registration with the professional board of nurse examiners of the state. 2 Experience in the nursing field. 3 Supervisory experience in long term care is required. JOB SKILLS: 1 Must have thorough knowledge of nursing theory, techniques and practices. 2 Must have thorough knowledge of the specialized procedures applied and equipment used in the area to which assigned. 3 Must have knowledge of dietetic, sanitation, and personal hygiene. 4 Must have knowledge of medications, their proper dosage and expected results. 5 Must have skill in handling and manipulating instruments and equipment. 6 Must be able to coordinate and supervise the nursing functions in an effective manner. 7 Must be able to maintain an empathetic attitude toward residents and to gain their confidence in order to work with them effectively. 8 Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions of a technical nature. 9 Must be able to recognize and identify symptoms and to make decisions quickly in emergencies. 10 Must be able to train subordinates in work procedures and to organize and direct training carried out by members of the staff. 11 Must possess the ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. 12 Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test. The salary range for the role is $81.336 - $81.336 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. Job Description Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities: OFFICE VISITS: Introduces self to patient while escorting patient into the exam room. Prepares the patient for exams and procedures. Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients. Administers medications including all types of injections, IV therapy as needed and within the scope of licensure. Provide basic patient care and treatments, such as but not limited to: dressing wounds, performing catheterizations or applying compresses. Collects, labels and processes specimens accurately. Cleans and prepare medical treatment rooms for patient visits. Assemble and use equipment appropriate to specific medical practice. Schedule follow-up appointments for patients as needed. Communicates delays effectively when necessary. CHARTING: Enters patient information into the computer accurately and in a timely manner. Manages the physician's desktop accurately and in a timely and efficient manner. MISCELLANEOUS: Provides clerical support to patients such as but not limited to making appointments, booking procedures, obtaining pre-authorizations and answering telephones. Manages medical inventory and supply ordering based on par levels. Must work under the supervision of the physician or Registered Nurse.
