Job Responsibilities: Under the direction of an RN, provides nursing tasks to patients and families such as continuous care, dressing changes, catheter changes as identified in the plan of care developed by the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG). Demonstrates clinical skills regarding application of Company policies and procedures such as: medication administration, symptom management, and patient/family relationships. Observes/monitors patients for alterations in body systems, pain and symptoms and reports to RN. Observes and reports signs of adverse reactions and responses to treatments and reports to RN. Reports findings to physicians, APRNs and physician’s assistants following collaboration with RN. Performs venipuncture for blood specimens. Performs Central Venous Line (CVL) site observation/inspection; venous access device dressing, cap change and flushing venous access device; IV medication and fluid administration, IV pushes (per procedure) and venipuncture. May not make any changes to infusion pump including, but not limited to, rate changes and IV bag changes. Documents per policy and procedure in medical record. During times of emergencies (i.e. Hurricanes, etc.), the LPN may be required to report to work at a location designated by the company, to ensure continuity of services. This may include reporting to work ahead of your scheduled date/time due to planned lock down of unit, and staying overnight(s) based on duration of emergency Performs other duties as assigned.
