Job Description The Department of Ambulatory Care Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Assistant Director of Nursing / Nurse Practitioner, Dermatology. The successful candidate will: Provide same-day procedures, infusion/laser referrals. Document all care provided in the patients' medical records. Develop further, maintain/manage patients care panel with participation in managed care programs and other direct patient care programs as applicable. On a daily basis, review all laboratory and radiology reports to identify abnormal results for urgent follow-up. Ensure that patients are contacted to arrange additional care and that their primary providers are notified. Participate and provide departmental and Family Medicine educational activities to medical students, allied health professional students. Participate in hospital and departmental health fairs, community health education events and speak to community groups, when requested. Attend staff meetings and, as required, write nurse practitioner protocols, in collaboration with the Medical Director. Stay abreast of developments in Dermatology health care. Continually seek to increase knowledge and understanding of the Orthopaedic joint reconstruction sub-specialty. Arrange consults when appropriate. Use macro templates in EHR systems. Create progress and discharge notes, where appropriate, for each patient seen. Use service recovery strategies within scope of responsibility to resolve immediate patient concerns. Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of clinically based education programs. Participate in specialty associations for the enhancement of continuing education. Perform other tasks for the department and practice as needed. Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to new and evolving challenges. Recognize changes in clinical situations and act in a timely manner. Adhere to the hospital and medical group policies and procedures. Be a role model for other members of the team. while modeling the WE CARE values of the institution. Qualifications Required Qualifications New York State Registered Nurse & Nurse Practitioner Licensure. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of experience in a professional practice.
