This is an operative role that requires first-assisting, along with inpatient management of post-operative patients and the outpatient clinic as well. Rounding in the ICU and on the telemetry floor. Patient evaluation and treatment after team discussion with the supervising physician, as well as clear and concise documentation in the electronic medical records. This will include daily progress notes, consult notes, discharge summaries, and patient education. Call Responsibilities: The PA takes the first call with physician backup. PA coverage is provided 24/7, and shared equally between 3 PAs. Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30am – 4:30 with variability. Newly licensed PAs and NPs will be considered, especially with cardiothoracic clinical rotations and a clear interest in this field. Responsibilities include assist in surgery, consults, rounds in CVICU and on floors, ambulatory clinic. Additional Responsibilities: Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations (where indicated), initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness, and scrutinizes lab data to establish a record of the patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan. Works in collaboration with the health care team.
